    Tube bender setup

I was just wondering how you guys out there have your manual tube benders setup. Just got mine and looking for ideas. I saw a picture a while back where the guy had it on wheels and had a removable peice of square tubing that went into the ground.

    Re: Tube bender setup

I did not buy the stand. I have a forklift here at my shop so I made a shoe that slides into both forks that the bender is permenently mounted to. The shoe slides onto the forks and has 2 adjustable bolts per fork so I can level out the bender. Forklift allows me a stable platform in my shop and I can also drive it outside and work right next to larger projects. At the end of the day I lift the bender to a shelf well out of the way and it lives there until I need it again.

I too wish I had a fork lift, very cool idea. But for those of us without you can make a simple mount like the one pictured below. You can bolt it down with 1/2" bolts using Drop In Anchors (also pictured) in the concrete.

    Re: Tube bender setup

I have had friends with the same problems and they ended up pourinf a small pad in the back yard. One thing I thought might is get a 2x2 reciever hitch stock and make a mount to that . Just back the truck in and bend away. You would have to be agood welder. Just a thought.

I bought a model 4 bender with 1", 1 1/2", 1 3/4" and 2" dies. I love the air over hydraulic. Makes life easier when you are on your own. For those late nite bursts of Off Road fabrication creativity. On my bender I made a x base out of 2"X6" .120 mild steel I had just sitting around the shop. I want to put wheels on it and drop down feet to level it when in use. This thing is heavy!!!!!!!!!!

I made my mount out of a piece of 2x2 and a 6x6 by 3/16 plate bolted down with 1/2in bolts with no problems yet

Ok here are my pics. The base plate holds the pedistool. At my convinience i can put the bender in the rectangular hole.
