Re: class definitions
they are all the same , except for the the truck body on the TT. class 1 means buggy stye rear suspension " independent" trailing arm. truggy is truck with out body" straight axle rear suspension. and TT is either type with truck body " body must match engine type" chevy, ford, toyota" .

Re: class definitions
There is also the "BUCK" buggy with truck body
Make your $$ count, race a limited class, it last longer.

Re: class definitions
i would classify them as so...
1.Trophy Truck= truck chassis with complete truck body...front/mid engine
2.Class 1 = independent rear suspension and mid/rear engine.
3.Truggy = a class 1 with buggy style front suspension and TT rear suspension..straight axle in rear..front engine...i thought that's what the name originally meant ..truggy's have grown over the years
4. Buck = complete buggy chassis w/ truck body front/mid/rear engine

I interprite your question a little differantly then the ones who have posted before me. I believe you are looking for the Class Definition of the categories you are asking about.
So to the best of my memory (because I don't have a rule book in front of me) they are as follows.
Trophy Truck = mass produced "Truck" based. Everything eles is open, there are NO rules. With the exception that the Engine must match the body type. These trucks usually are Front or Mid Engined with Double Wishbone Suspension up front and Solid Axle in the rear and Two Wheel Drive. Although there have been variations to the normal. Some have tried Four Wheel Drive, Double Wishbones on all four corners, Rear Engine, Rear Trailing Arm Suspension and Front Solid Axle. A few variations have met with great success and some have met with very poor success. It is ment to be a Production Truck "Look-A-Like class, but there have been a few body variations allowed including, Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV, Kia Sportage SUV, Chevy Trailblazer SUV and a 1968 Chevy Camaro.
Class 1 = Origonally started life as Unlimited Single Seat Buggy. It was a truly unlimited class. You could run anything you could dream of in this class. The list of oddities to enter in this class include everthing from a Condor Motorhome (RV) to a Ford Van to the early pre Trophy Trucks of Robby Gordon and PPI / Toyota. Class 1 was then combined with Class 2 because of low class enteries in the Mid '90's. Now this class has morfed into stricktly Open Wheel nature. No longer are the Oddities accepted unless they are open wheel.
Truggy = There is no offical racing classification for Truggies in perticular. A Truggy is able to run in either Trophy Truck (with truck body added) or Class 1. That is where it get's it's name, TRUck- buGGY. There are two main types of Truggies. The first (and origonal) is basically a Trophy Truck with a simple buggy style body on it. The second is more like a Mid Engine buggy with a Solid Rear Axle.
Buck = (I hate this term, but then I also dislike the term Truggy) = Also no offical racing classification. A Buck is nothing more then a Class 1 buggy with a truck body on it. That's where it get's it's name, BUggy-truCK.
I hope this helps you understand our racing classifications in the US better

Re: class definitions
i think TT and Class 1s are COMPLETELY unlimited...you can have as much horsepower, wheel travel, and all that fun stuff as you want....the most HP i've heard of is 1000 in the Smith/Ashely TT and most travel i think is the FST Avalanche TT with 28" front & 40" rear..i just heard those numbers...the truck doesn't work well at all though...truggy's are definitely NOT their own class

Re: class definitions
Must be naturally asperated (no turbos or superchargers), possible exception for turbo
diesel but none exist in these classes. Also tire size is limited to 40" maximum. There
are other rules relating to safety. I've not seen the new rulebook but heard it limits
class 1 to two seats maximum. There is no minimum weight rule I'm aware of.
So it's not really unlimited since you can't play with forced induction.
Any trophy truck would be legal in class 1 with the body removed (with the possible
exception of the rumored new seat limit in class 1).
Any class 1 would be legal in Trophy Truck if you put a truck body on it that kinda
looks like a model the manufacturer of the engine sells. I suppose a non production
based engine might have an issue but I guess a Scat could run with Tourag fiberglass
since they let you use non production blocks (Donovan etc.) It's a grey area since
there are essentially zero OEM parts in a modern Trophy Turck engine including the block.
