As for Colin Powell, He is a great man but not the kind that we need for the fight that we are in. He is a "diplomacy" guy. Colin Powell is the guy that kept us from going to Bagdad in 1991. There is no amount of Diplomacy that is going to settle this problem, at best it will only prolong the problem as evidenced by the nearly 30 years that we have been in this conflict. There is no measure short of a WWII mentality that will insure this countries, and all other Western Nations, future. We need General Patton reincarnated. Anybody remember the speech that he gave prior to the Battle Of the Buldge... " We will kill the enemy and use their guts to grease the tracks of our tanks"! You can blame the "diplomacy" types for this going on for this long. This includes the Iraq situation. Diplomatic types were the reaosn that the Vietnam War is such a black eye for this country. Save the Diplomacy for the rebuilding effort ala The Marshall Plan!
We need Newt Gingrige in '08. He is the man with the plan.

Mark, it is really Condi, but even with my typo n/d you knew I was referring to Dr. Condoleezza Rice, the woman who could beat Clinton, in a chick fight, I mean Presidential Election.

regardless of candidate, a democrat will not be in office in 08'. the party is just stuck in political quicksand. it is the party of blame all mistakes on republicans, but have no solutions of there own.
But too many people are dissatisfied with the united States' performance in Iraq, whether the war was justified or not we don't seem to be getting anywhere. Also, this BS with the stem cells and gay marriage is getting rediculous, the only hope that the right has of winning the next election will come from the events starting in other countries right now showing that Iraq and terrorism are worth trying to defeat. Unless they are smart enough to ditch the conservative religious candidates and go for a moderate that actually reflects the will of the American people as a whole instead of just those in the bible belt, but what are the chances of that.
Personally i think having these people sign more treaties is a waste of time, its like having Jeffrey Dalmer sign a piece of paper promising not to kill or eat any more people and then giving him a couple million as an incentive, Dalmer would take the money and keep killing, just like these nuts in the middle east.
We need to take care of business or this is going to go on for the rest of our lives and maybe our kids lives, i don't care if it takes nukes to stop them, it made japan chill after centuries of aggression.
To many country's are just playing politics, like Russia, the Chechen's had about 1.5 million people a few years ago, there are about 350,000 left now, no one knows how many where killed but some estimates put it over 500,000, Putin saying Israel is being to heavy handed is a joke.
If this chit keeps happening we will have another 9/11 or worse with a nuke going off in a major US city, Iran would just love to do that, oh yeah and who is giving Iran nuke technology !!! Russia ( just a power plant though, after all they have no oil )
I say Norman Schwarzkopf for President in 2008............It wont happen, but I can dream........
Talk about handling the situation............he would be the man.
It sure sounds like Israel is in it to win it..........they are not going to stop, and I hope we take a lesson from them..........Kidnap our people, we bomb the hell out of you until they are returned........very simple.
