In that case the cab can be made of fiberglass but still has to have the working doors?

You won't end up saving too much weight, but using a fiberglass cab makes all the fab work a lot easier. I freakin' hate building rollcages around sheetmetal. It's a pain. Fiberglass also makes repairing damaged body panels a lot easier.

Nobody that I know of is selling blueprints or plans for these vehicles until you start spending TT money. Will this be your first off-road vehicle? Are you planning on building it yourself?

Hey just a question why would you build a toyota versus a ford. Just a thought I don't know what motor you could run that would be fast enough to compete against a 4.5 Ford. I race class seven and would hate to see someone spend so much money and not have a competetive truck. If you have any question look us up would be glad to help someone who wants to race our class, the more trucks in our class the better.

What does having a 4.5L motor in Class 7 have to do with being competitive?!?!?!

First and foremost what is the build budget ?
Second the Ford over Toyota, what do you like, Ford does not always win,I have raced both in all the 7 classes and it just depends on the class and the way its built.
To look at some great trucks and how to do it , get to the owners of the 7 trucks you most admire, get with your builder, because you are talking way different animals between 7 and 7s or sx .
by the way 7 does not have working doors,7s or 7sx do, cab needs only to have a steel roof panel from OEM , per inspection before BK500.

Having a 4.5 does not meen you are going to win. My point was that a 4.5 makes a lot of power. I don't know what toyota engine you could use to equal the power in the same price range. I guess i just like Fords because thats what I own, and most of the fast trucks are Fords LR, Turner, the ex-Taylor truck Wansack, Jernigan, and my favorite ours the Herrera H&M Build.

    Re: Class 7 Toyota advice

As for engines, your best bet would be a 5VZFE 3.4 liter V6. There is one in the classifieds that was in a class 7 truck. Regardless, it will cost money to get the kind of horsepower out that engine. Also, Toyota also ran a V6 engine in the Goody's Dash or ARCA series, which is the source of the Ford 4.5. It was carbuerated and and put out simiar numbers powerwise, but are harder to find.

Here's a link to that Toyota V6 for sale. Some of the parts are listed giving a good idea of what it takes to get power of the engine.
