If I don't want to mess with photobucket, how do I resize the photos from my computer's hard drive?![]()

the most common problem with picture attachment is file size and picture dimensions.
We have set both limits so it works well for web viewing and where it helps us to keep the amount of data transmitted low. We pay for the bandwidth every month and it has to stay within the limits.
My favorite program to deal with images in windows is Irfanview. Irfanview is a low-key and super fast program and best part of it's free. It lets you view images stored on your computer (fast), resize them, recompress jpg images (to reduce file size), crop and much more.
After you download and during the install associate all images to Irfanview and you are set.
the rdc image restrictions are listed as you upload an images. Make sure you are within those values.
Thanks for the help Klaus. I downloaded Irfanview, resized the photo to within the upload parameters for RDC, and changed it to a JPEG but when I click upload it says the file failed to upload. Am I missing a step? And will it show on my post as an attached thumbnail that can be enlarged when clicked on or will it show up really big on the screen. I want it small so that my post doesn't dominate the thread.
Thanks again Klaus.

attached images will show up as thumbnails that can be clicked on.
To include it in your post you have to have the image hosted elsewhere (such as photobucket, flicker, picasa etc.).
email me the image in question to klaus @ this website
Hello Klaus:
I am not sure I understand what you mean by that statement.
You say "To include it in your post you have to have the image hosted elsewhere"....
Hosted elsewhere would be on another computer connected to the Internet with send/receive capabilities - Yes/No?
then you continue...." (such as photobucket, flicker, picasa etc.)".
That would be some other Image Editing Software Package would it not? If the images to be uploaded are in standard Internet file formats (.jpg, .gif, .tiff etc) - located on a remote Host Computer - they shouldn't have to be contained in some vendor proprietary software package.
This Forum Software seems to be a pretty commonly used one - so I assume something is set wrong if one can not upload a standard image, that meets your file size and type restrictions - file from one's own computer. Yes/No?
thanks,
Carl

There are 2 ways to bring your pictures into our forum.
1. Start a new post in our forum and under "Additional Options" select "Manage Attachments". A new window dialog will start where you may upload up to 5 images. Those images however need to be within our size specs. To upload more images start more posts within the same thread. Those images we then reseize to smaller "thumbnails" that our visitors can click on to see original seized image. I attached an image just now of Robby Gordon in Las Vegas.
2. An image is hosted on another website other then race-dezert.com and you know the picture's URL. You may include it by clicking the "insert Image" button while typing your post and then inserting the image URL where prompted. There are free webservices that let you upload images and share them with anyone on the internet . Picasa , Photobucket , Kodak Gallery are popular providers or google it for more results.
I hope that helps. You may experiment in our "test" forum to post images. We clear all posts in that forum frequently.
Carl, here is the image you emailed me as an attachment.
I did not encounter any problems.
I've got the same Problem: I can't upload them. I'm using a Mac and Firefox 2.0. I always get a failure reply when I try to upload the photo.
My pics are of the correct dimension and format. No firewalls or other stuff could cause the problem.
Does anybody know what the reason could be for that?
Daniel
