Question electric fuel pumps in corr

Who is running an electric fuel pump in the single buggy class? Corr says if we run electric we need a fuel cutoff switch installed. I looked in the rule book and it says to buy ac delco part number 20536938. I did that and now i need to know how to install it on the car, has anyone done this before? Thanks for your help.

Is that a pressure switch with 3 terminals on it?

If so, two are switched and one is a start by-pass. OE application was for the Vega which never had a mechanical fuel pump. That switch is plumbed to engine oil pressure where ever is convenient.

Two of the terminals should be common and the third should be isolated with no pressure applied. Start wire goes to one of the paired and the other to the fuel pump or pump relay. The isolated terminal gets Ign power.

In crank mode the start wire will by-pass the switch and also feed the fuel pump so that you get fuel pressure while cranking. Once running oil pressure keeps the switch closed. In the event of loss of oil pressure the fuel pump will be turned off.

if it only has 2 prongs you will need 2 switches, one that closes the circuit when there is oil pressure and one you can push to bypass the oil pressure one.

ditch the electric pump and stay with the mechanical pump. having one or even two switches is only another $10 part that could fail and help you lose the race. oh!, actually go ahead and put four or five on your cars. you guys are the competition. ha ha ha. actually why don't you stay with the mechanical pump? I've seen alot of cars stay with the mechanical pump. just my 2 cents see you in chula vista.

You guys need to go to your local NAPA auto parts store ask for NFP part # A-68301 and also have the friendly countersales person from NAPA copy page # 492 of NAPA Fuel Pump catalog and it will show step by step procedures of mounting your switch.
