    Battery Light - Superduty

The idiot light on the dash of my Superduty that looks like a battery comes on once in a while. I recently replaced the batteries I would say in April. My question is this....Is this idiot light wired to come on when the alt is not charging? 03 Smoker.

Yes that is what the light means. Your voltage gage in the dash will be the best indication of what your batteries are doing if you have one. If you had a bad battery before, the alternator was probably working overtime trying to get that sucker charged, and it may need to be fixed or replaced. They still start and run a long time even if one battery has a dead cell. I disconnect and check them independently now once a year or so.

Thanks, I will remove the Alt and have it checked out. So you disconnect one of the two batteries for a period of days at a time to see how it starts etc then switch to the other and see how it performs?
