Computer to use on 05 4.0

We just installed the above in our class 7 ranger. The engine is stock with headers and an intake and larger maf. What are people using for a race application computer? It seems that guys are running open loop with no O2 sensors? Its running now with the stock computer that has been flashed for timing, theft and something else. It runs good most of the time, but then intermittantly starts running poorly. Then it seems to 're-set" Our computer guy has been chasing this problem on several trucks.
