E bay Rhino for sale scam?
I have been watching several places on the web for rhinos for sale. On ebay last night a rhino came up in Hollywood for auction with a buy it now of $2800.00. I jumped all over it. When I clicked on -buy it now- it said I needed to be approved by the seller and to send them a message to be approved. I did send them a message and got nothing back ( not surprised ). This morning, the listing was gone. I did however receive a email from the seller. In the email he says that he has moved to the Netherlands and has the Rhino there. He goes on to say that it would be expensive to register it there and could not sell it there with out being registered. So he says he will sell it to me for $2800 including shipping and insurance from the Netherlands.
I have a couple ideas how this could be a scam, but I wanted to see what the wise folks here on RDC might think.

Re: E bay Rhino for sale scam?
E-bay seems to be over run with scams now days.
I bet the seller I.D. was highjacked and it wasn't even them selling it.
Once you send a message to the seller outside of e-bay they have eliminated e-bay from the deal.
I got a second chance offer that looked like it was from e-bay and even had the page the item was on for the auction with a contact the seller button to take the offer.
It was a scam, any message from e-bay will be listed in your ,my e-bay, under your user name. If the message isn't there it is a scam.
Anything I bid on now I send a message to the seller first to verify it is really them selling it.

You need to report that to eBay.
