Re: My father was murdered south of Mulege!!!
What a terrible situation to be in. I hope everyone that reads this realizes that this could happen to any one of us, and we as american have our hands tied behind our backs. Mexico is a great place, but remember it is filled with bandits, marauders and opportunists, and I'm only speaking of the government that runs it.
I hope the killer(s) are found, but if ther'e not I hope they live the rest of their pathetic lives in horror.
Sorry for the anger I'm spewing out here, but when will the BS against Americans ever stop?

Re: My father was murdered south of Mulege!!!
It must also be dawn in Baja. My thoughts are with the drivers who were also awake all night. I hope they're travelling safely. I can't believe I used to think the worst that could happen would be my dad getting in a car wreck or dying naturally. I can't shake the images of the police photos from my mind. The shear horror on his face. It's all I see. When I blink I can change the image to the next picture. And I sit there and think that the killer or killers will never be found. That I can't be there to look for them. That I wasn't there to protect him, or at least maybe make him less of an easy target. And this was a person who would stop and leave food for the junkyard dogs. Bring candy down for the local kids. He'd even pickup hitchhikers, and who knows, maybe that lead to his death?
PLEASE look for an ALL WHITE (grill, bumpers, everything) 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 4.7L V8, with tan leather and a sunroof.
The windows are slighty tinted (from the factory). It may be the Laredo or Limited model?
California License Plate # 5NRK826
It has a black roof rack that is easily visible and a large dent on the rear liftgate.
It also has a large adjustable tow hitch
The radiator core support is also bent and you can see where it was cut off and welded back on.
It has Bilstein shocks and a Rancho Steering Stabilizer
If you see this Jeep please contact the local authorities.

My Spanish isn't very good so I'm having trouble posting on
www.baja4x4.org Could someone do that for me? Thanks.
I´ll try to translate your posting in order to be published in any Spanish forum. I was born Mexican, so my Spanish is better than my English. I´ll also post this on the Offroad.Com.Mx Forum. So here´s the translation, I hope it works:

So sorry to hear about this. You might want to edit the part about the general incompetence of the mexican police before posting this on any mexican forums though if that's anything people might be offended by.

Re: My father was murdered south of Mulege!!!
I am so sorry to hear about your loss, and you & your family are in our thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.
I have posted your message in a local off road racing site www.elpatorojo.com in hope that someone can trace down your dad's Jeep, and thus, help track down the culprites.
It is sad that we live in a world where we see more & more violents deaths, for something as trivial as a Jeep, or in some case a pair of sneakers. However, unfortunately, this seems to be worldwide, and with all due respect, not necessarily Mexicans targeting American victims.
With deepest regret
Andrea

Re: My father was murdered south of Mulege!!!
A pre-runner sent me this link to a pic of my dad. I can't look at it without breaking down.
I don't know what day it was taken but I'm trying to find out. The site says it was uploaded on the 8th.
It's taken from Highway 1 heading north, looking down on Playa Armenta.
You can clearly see the roof rack on the Jeep and you can barely make out the dent to the left of the license plate.
You can't really make out the big tow hitch, but that's the big black thing on the rear bumper.
The roof rack is a simple round tube rack painted flat black. Made by Iron Horse? The wingnuts to it are a PITA so it might still be on there?

PLEASE forward this to as many forums and people as you can think of. I got in touch with SCORE's attorney down in La Paz so hopefully he is spreading the word. But he didn't seem too concerned after he found out my father was not on a race team. And he didn't seem to care that someone could have killed my father and then gone to watch the race. Or at least be in the same area. I'm sure it's out on the dirt roads.
By the way, I talked to a local pilot while we were down there, there's also a downed plane. I think in the Loreto/Mulege area. Went down on Sunday. Sounded like a smaller, private plane. Keep an eye out for that too.
I need to meet with my family. Can you please forward this.
