I have heard its a thuggish and corrupt town, and I have seen all I need to see of it Loredo was great though.
They tried to rip us off for diesel as well. The attendent acted like he re-set the pump and pumped 284 pesos (no fuel went into the truck) in the truck said he was out of fuel, I'll try again and pumped another 314 pesos in the truck (actually pumping fuel this time) and said the total was 598 pesos. I said no way, no diesel went in the first time and I was at 1/2 a tank and it couldn't hold that much fuel. The attendent then said ok 314 pesos and walked away cussing me under his breath. They got one of our other drivers on the way down and I was going to give this guy a t-shirt until I found out he was trying to rip us off.

The same pemex station got me the same way by resetting the pump half way through the fill. 100.00 for a half of tank. I wish i knew about it down south so i could keep my eyes open because I was there for the whole week before the race but it is very hard to get info down south.

Daniel,
My Condolences for your loss. Our "system" is very frustrating to navigate, to say the least and the system in Mexico, defies logic!
Remember : "Power of the Pen". I reside in Lake Elsinore, your profile says Temecula. Not sure if you rent or own, but I'm sure your wages are taxed and pay local taxes.
Start with George W. Bush's office and work your way back down to Calif. Governor, State Senators, Congressman, Mayor, ect.. Use a form type of letter and do the same for Mexico. Don't stop communicating until action is taken by both Governments is acceptable in your mind. All our elected officials have aides that are paid very well, with your tax dollars, to have empathy for your situation and to help you find answers. Also try calling Kevin Jeffries, in Lake Elsinore, newly elected State Assemblyman, he may know additional tricks for cutting through the red tape. He has been in local and state politics for many years and was my landlord for a business I had for 9 years. He is a good guy. Feel free to mention my name and PM me and let me know what else I can do to help.
Best Wishes,
Brian Johnson

So sad and lets not let this thread die!
Something has to be done, the shenanigans that some of the people pull is outrageous and the tourism offices need to handle this as we are the ones that line their pockets with tourist moneys. I have been going down for 3 years now and I bet as soon as something bad happens I more than likely will not go down their unless they deal with it correctly
I love Mexico and the awesome HONEST locals, lets not keep the bad apples from ruining it for us and future generations.
Nikita Khrushchev said"We can't expect the American People to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of Socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have Communism. "

I completely understood but that he wouldn't even tell the border/customs guys to keep an eye out for it was pretty lame. And I tried asking them too. SDPD wouldn't touch it. CHP wouldn't without Mexican paper work that we didn't get. Nice catch22. We got ZERO paperwork. I don't think we even got a death certificate.
I think my bro-in-law finally talked to someone in ICE ( www.ice.gov ) and he took care of getting the Jeep reported stolen? Or the CHP Mexican liason did? Thanks to both.
We finally got in touch with the Mulege police. I'm not sure why that took so long. We don't know anything definate but apparently they're working on it.
Help us find my father's killer(s?)!!! Description of Jeep He was murdered on Playa Armenta, south of Mulege B.C.S. The local police say it was on the 11th, but it was probably Tuesday the 7th.
PLEASE help us to find his killers.
They stole his ALL WHITE 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It has a large dent on the rear liftgate to the left of the license plate.
There's a large black roof rack, about 4'x4'x1/2', made from thin steel tubes.

Those guys and kids that work there in the gas station are dirt bags, low life thiefs. They are playing the 10 pesos to 1 dollar game, like alot of the other gas stations. Thats one of the reasons why I have a 70 gallon tank under my super duty and another 50 in the back seat, so I don't have to stop, wasting more time and dealing with with these jerk offs.
