Exclamation toyota 3.4 L engine upgrade?

My engine, a 1990 Toyota 3.0 L w/ manual transmission, has been running rough for a few days now. I took it to the shop and they told me the head gaskets are bad. They’re leaking oil but the really bad thing is that anti-freeze is leaking into the engine. The pistons are not firing correctly and it is causing my engine to shake and sometimes shut down. I had the shop do a compression test and they said that the pressure in the cylinders ranged from 68 – 120. They told me spec ranged from 150 – 170. The shop told me my engine was I dying horse, so to speak. I might put in a rebuilt 3.0 L or a rebuilt 3.4 L. The 3.4 L has more power but there is much more labor involved in doing the conversion. I just don’t know how much? I have been thinking about an engine swap for awhile, when my engine reaches 300,000 miles. It is at 227,000 miles give or take, and is now crippled. Switching out the engine to a 3.4 L is just one of my options. If anyone knows where to find a good 3.4 L, the steps involved in the conversion, what needs to be swapped out, or what problems might arise I would be very gracious if you would let me know.

My other option is to buy a new vehicle. Does anyone know of a 4x4 extended cab Toyota truck that is for sell? If the front of the truck is in good condition but the rear-end is wrecked, I might be able to swap the engine and components. If anyone knows of a truck that would work for this purpose I would like to know?

I got a quote of around nine grand to do the 3.4 L engine swap so it looks like I will be rebuilding my 3.0 sometime in the next few months.

the 3.0 has been known to have had problems with the head gaskets. but nine grand for a swap doesnt seem right. check the TTORA site...they might be able to help.

The 3.4 will bolt into your 90 truck. Trans will bolt up.
www.offroadsolutions.com has a conversion kit for the wiring.
