    Possable closure of Cal City

Over the busy weekend, there were some volunteers and
Cal City Pd going around to camp sites in the Cal City
limits area (Esse & Cadilac areas) They were passing out
flyers engouraging people to write the OHVMR commission
and request that the grant money for the areas that are being lost.

Along with these flyers, they were saying there was a possibility
that Cal City would be closed.

Unfortunately Cal City is in real financial trouble. Our citizens
here have voted down the special tax that would have floated
some of the Emergency response teams in the desert areas.

To compound this we are fighting for our emergency services grant moneys.

If you would like to write the OHMVR... It may help out not only
Cal City, but the entire Kern County emergency infrastructure that
covers a lot of the areas we ride in.
    Email them...[email protected]

    Grant info is here.....

Regarding closure of Cal City, Historically the City has welcomed
the OHV community, but Cal City is not made of $$$. So, if they have to
foot the bill for law enforcement and medical incedent responce, the less chance
they are going to welcome us there....

    Thanks

Most of my life, my heart has been into four wheel desert racing
    and recreation.

I will tell ya what..at least the bike folks CARE!!!!!

WE ARE TALKING OVER 100 SQUARE MILES OF DESERT
CAL CITY IS PROPOSING TO CLOSE !!!!!

Go ahead RDC admin...push the issue to 'Save the desert" Where it belongs
that is just the attitude of the Buggy / Truck crowd anyway...push it
aside and let someone ELSE handle it

The last MORE race..I stood in tech line for 4 hours and sold ONE CORVA membership.

Last weekend, I sold over 30 to the bike folks in Randsburg

What IS wrong with this picture????

Are we going to roll over and let the Enviros win?

All Im asking is join CORVA,

And write the OHMVR and demand we want our green sticker money
to be evenly spread among the counties..not to go down to just Glamis,
    imperial county

Re: Possable closure of Cal City

Pardon my ignorance, but where is Cal City?

I agree with you, Glamis shouldn't be where all the funds go. there are plenty of other places that need the support also. we need to take an active part in keeping these areas open.

Also, are CORVA memeberships available online?

(You must be a Dune Person?)

But Cal City is off the 14 about half way between Mojave and Jawbone Cayon Store.

Are they saying some animal or plant is becoming endangered again? Or some kind of bacteria?

    SAVE CAL CITY!!!!

No I am not a dune person. As a matter of fact I dont care much for the dunes.
I just spend most of my time in Barstow and Johnson valley. I am however trying to broaden my horizons with new places to go and I dont want to see any of these areas be closed!
