    Smile ROSE Transaxles

I have a rose that needs some work. I think the pinion shaft has lost a few teeth. Does anyone know where I can get this fixed?? Or does someone know of another Rose transaxle for sale?

    Any help would be appreciated

Unfortunately you are not the only one looking for one of those. Good luck.

    Re: ROSE Transaxles

I belive Chris Rose is still around in El Cajon, Ca. I think he has a business called Rose Auto repair center on 2nd and Greenfield, Call information for el Cajon. I was told by Mike @ Racer X that he still does some trans work. I hope this helps.

    Re: ROSE Transaxles

I am guessing that you bought the Bunderson that was advertised?
The UN5 is a good solid box. You are correct with the crown wheel being about nine inches, but what you will find is that the standard 1st and 2nd is a bit low since it came out of 3 ton commercial van.3rd and 4th are fine, as is 5th.
I think that they are a very good cheap option, but feel that you should possibly make a few improvements straight from start rather than running a standard box.
James Madden at the off road shop in Adelaide is the man to talk to as he has a wealth of knowledge on these, and came accomadate to whatever your needs and budget is.
Also if you want a good article on these, the latest issue(edition5) of Dirt Comp Magazine has a full run down on the UN5.

    Re: ROSE Transaxles

I still dont see the UN5 as being a good option for a transaxle, the gears are very spread out on the shaft and I feel that this allows flex which is why everyone is always doing third gear in them. No solid evidence of this, but people are breaking the UN5 with 1600CC motors.

    Re: ROSE Transaxles

I have not seen this 3rd gear problem, but saying that everything will break with time. But keep in mind that the oprative word here is value for money. The UN5 is the best option for price I feel, as too step up a level you are looking at a good sum of money.
What do you feel is good value as far as transaxles?

    Re: ROSE Transaxles

I have seen the third gear problem on several cars, as well as more than the odd diff go, third gear is also just a press fit and is liable to work its way back on the shaft and out of mesh. As far as transaxles I dont think there is a good affordable option. But unless you are willing to run the renault stock, its still a similar price to setup with albins gears etc as a 930 aside from the initial outlay.
