harbor freight 9 inch HID offroad lights

has anyone tried the harbor freight 9 inch offroad lights? they are not on the web site yet, but they are in the latest catalog. they are only $120 each so its cheap for a HID, but I doubt they can handle offroading. So has anyone seen these in person? I was thinking of getting one to see what it's all about. Maybe I can change the guts out to work in my hella 4000's

for those of you interested the part number is 95059-0BDA and you have to enter it in the shopping cart area where it says "enter a catalog item number"

Hmm, looks interesting. I will have to check them out when they finally make it to their retail stores. I run their cheapo lights offroad for rock crawling and they have held up pretty good but there is no telling with a bigger light not to mention they are HIDs. Thanks for the heads up.

AZ E not trying to bad mouth these lights (never tried them out ) BUT, its plain and simple, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR..The lights may work for the weekend duner,But you will replace that flimsy hid lamp inside often. But in off-road I highly recommend against them. Look at the reflector, the light is most likley to "wash" all over the place(absolutly NO direction or focus). I am by no means a "lighting guy". but I have owned everything from dirt cheap to the best in off-road lights..Stick with what works. If you need a cheaper light, retro-fit a hella 4000 with the correct H.I.D lamp and ballast and your set...(2) hella 4000=$215.+H.I.D.Kit=$200.=$200+ea for a good H.I.D. light.

point well taken 14802. I agree, you get what you pay for. I'm sure the lights are best suited for the poser/wanabe offroad vehicle.

second that on 14802. i'm just not a fan of harbor freight and their mickey mouse tools and equipment. I've bought a 2 jacks from there that stopped working within 2 yrs, and a hydrolic press that i've had to re-weld myself. it will be a long time before i buy from there.

Im sure everyone one here has a love-hate relationship with Harbor Frieght. From my exp. There tools are either good or bad. Theres no in between with them. My alum. jack as worked great for 4+ years, my angle grinder 6+., cherry picker 8+ plus various hand tools, a meat slicer. But I dont use them very day, and Ive been down the crappy drill press, mis matched hole, press, hammer head falling off road before. So Im sure theres going to be some people coming on here claiming these are the best lights ever, and it only cost them 120.00 BUt Im sure at least theres going to twice as many crying the blues cause they forked out, 600.00 for 5 of them and only two of them work.

Not sure about Hella and PIAA lights, but ACRO, KC, Procomp and EagleEYE lights, bulbs, and housing are all made in China, where HB light are made.
All lights will get damaged in off-road use, so why not get more for your $$
Make your $$ count, race a limited class, it last longer.
