    source for bumper caps?

I just built some bumpers from 1.5" .120wall tubing and need a source for plastic caps to cover the ends?

I plan on siliconing them in to keep water out but cant find any. I know they make them since Fabtech, etc plugs them into the ends of their bumpers.

Someone advised me welding steel freeze plugs into the ends but Ive painted them already and dont want to weld on them anymore.

PS if theres a source in SD area that would be great.

    Thanks,
    Doug

    Re: source for bumper caps?

just cut some little circles out of sheet metal and mig them on then grind and paint. Sounds easier to me then driving all over to find some fabtech looking cap. I just did this on my bumper and it only took a little while and it doesn't even matter how good the circles are cut.

The plastic ones are crappy because, people tend to lean on the bumper and they usually knock those things off and you know your not gonna run out and buy some new ones right away.

    Re: source for bumper caps?

Here Protrux is selling them for $8 a pair. They only are made for 1 1/2 .120 wall tubing. They are billet alum. and are a couple thousands over 1.25" O.D. so they tap in and stick with a rubber mallet. Their number is 760-761-0170.

Turn your own plastic ones on a lathe.

I do like the billet alum ones.. As soon as Protrux has some for 1.750x0.120 then I think I might just have to get me a pair.
