LED Alternator Light
OK....I'd like to use an LED as an idiot light for the ALT on a VW, but I know this won't work with traditional wiring. I've heard that you can do this with a relay and resistor. I'm guessing you'd need a normally closed relay that is opened with the ignition switch then closed when the alt starts charging, but I can't figure where the resistor comes into play. Does anyone here have any experience with this? Any info would be great. I've tried an interenet search, but haven't got a straight answer.....
Thanks in advance....

Re: LED Alternator Light
Just used a 220 ohm resistor so the current draw matched a light bulb. You need about a 1/2 amp minimum of draw to make the circuit work. Better to be a little more draw than less.
