Hey come on guys the truck went off a cliff and the driver an co-driver are both ok. What else do you want, i am sure Jesse can affford to get the truck fixed, you cant expect to crash and have the truck be ready to go right after. Who cares what the cage looks like as long as the occuipants are ok then WHO CARES! Giesser Bros i am sure know what they are doing and as we can see in the past their trucks have taken some bad crashes and take them very well.

Hey everybody is very glad to hear all are well after the crash and they were able to get the truck out. But, it is good seeing these types of failures for all to discuss. This is not a bashing session. Nobody has mentioned Giesser till you did. This could have happened to ANY BUILDER. You may not care but some do.

Do you think the builder is going to build the next one the exact same way? Do you think Richard Childress Racing is installing or will modify the seat belts the same way they did in Earnhardt's car? I don't.

Here is one of the threads debating the proper welding of 4130 from the shop forum here on RDC: http://www.race-dezert.com/forum/sho...t=welding+4130

im not sure i agree on the whole thing ,but as a whole our sport has very few incidents where anyone is hurt. not good the weld broke at the joint.

Re: did jesse get the truck out ??

Just to add fuel to the fire... a while ago a friend crashed his homebuilt tube-and-fabric plane extremely hard, nose first, and then caught fire. He said there were two things that saved his life- his 4-point harness and the mild steel he used to make the fuselage. He hit so hard that the harness left black and swollen bruises across his chest and the only tubes in the plane that broke were the 4130 engine mount members- everything else bent and absorbed the crash. He initially blacked out but then came to and was able to literally claw his way out of the burning plane.

But I'm glad Jesse and his co-driver are OK. Wow, crazy ride. I went over a 30' embankment into icy water once and it's definitely no fun (I wasn't driving btw and we were able to crawl out the back of the jeep before the water filled the front of the cab). Very scary stuff.

Stop tring to stir the pot and stay on topic. If you were racers or fabricators you would understand a little more. We are all glad everyone is ok.

No one had mentiond the biulder untill me so your point is??. I am tired of people questioning the integreity of cages and technique used while welding or biulding, this thread has nothing to do with non-of that. I am sure after every race and every failure there is always something to learn from. But on here there seems to be alot of critics that are always quick to look at the bad side. I saw a trophy truck that flew off a cliff and landed in the ocean with both people in side coming out ok, other people saw a broken tube and then began to talk about that one broken tube, i dont mean to bash and i never reply to threads like this, but do you really think Jesse is thinking about the couple of broken tubes on the cage???

I hope that wasn't a general statement about your own abilities.

Point taken... Lets keep this thread all about the warm and fuzzy glad to still be alive vibe.
