Re: moto crash vid!
Yeah, that video was here last week, but watching it again still gets me fired up at how stupid and dangerous some spectators can be. As a media guy, I am down there on the course, before the race and see fresh built booby traps and late spectators driving backwards on the course and it "shocks and awes" me. I wish there was a way to eliminate unneccesary dangers to moto racers. I will be offering part of my sales of the next Wicked Gravity Video dvd, TOTALLY MOTO (all motorcycles) to www.riderdown.org . What a great organization to help injured motorcycle racers!!!!

Re: moto crash vid!
i think that was bad. i dont know why the guys beat him up, im sure i would of stood up for the fallen rider, but to fight a guy over it is bad. idk, bad situation all around. what if it was the other way, and a rider/driver hit some people. who does what? i myself, would bone out...
When a man knows how to live dangerously, he is not afraid to die. When he is not afraid to die, he is, strangely, free to live.
With that mentality though, I guess we could also make 2 TT classes for those guys that just can't keep up with the faster TTs. Oh wait.... This is racing. - Dan Vance

Re: moto crash vid!
Actually this video has been making the rounds of "Late Night Forums" since 2004. It took place, according to the tag line, at the August 2004 Cabo 250, NOT the just-finished SCORE Baja 250 out of Ensenada.
The first time I saw this video (over two years ago) I was stunned at the nonchalant exit of the truck driver, but the first video showing didn't have the aftermath of his beating. That adds a new dimension.
It's difficult from my perspective to determine just which of the offenders is the more offensive, the wrong-way truck driver or the spectator delivering the kick to a downed person. Without a verbal transcript--and interpretor for me--there are too many questions.
A couple of years ago during the B1K several of us at Punta Bufeo were flipped off by the co-driver of a chase truck heading north on the road towards Puertecitos when we tried to get him to pull off. We knew from Weatherman that the lead riders would be on the road.
Only a short time later we learned, again from Weatherman, that Mike Childress (lead moto) had been run off the road--and injured--by some wrong-way chase vehicle. We later compared notes and it was the same truck that we had tried to stop.
So what can you do? There are those who will do what they want to do when they want to do it. In retrospect, and I've told Mikey this, I don't know how we could have forced that truck to stop short of doing something that may have been over-reacting and irresponsible on our part.
You guys who drive the race cars and the chase trucks. You tell me.
