I'm curious to see how they will do compared to the trophy trucks and class 1's. I don't know how I would feel if they started beating trophy trucks though, we might have to rethink what we know about desert racing.

I feel bad for the rear end of those things if they dont beef up the back in anticipation of the Class 1s.
weve seen the cars with the bodys on but i wanna c what they look like underneath. But its pretty cool that there comming across seas to come race.
Here are some Pictures of the old Touregs.
I think we will all be pretty surprized at how the VW's do. I'm thinking the 500 is probably the best race for them to try. Baja has a lot of graded road sections and tight twisty stuff. I think the worse situation for these cars is going to be the whoops. And if this 500 does not have a lot of them I think these cars will be fast. These cars a kinda like Rally cars on steriods. The 4 wheel drives will pull them hard through the turns. By watching Dakar on TV and seeing the way they went through the sand I dont think the silt will be that bad for them. Now if the 500 was taking us down to San Felipe then I would say the whoops down there would eat them up. Mark Miller knows Baja and I dont think he would be having VW attempting this if he thought that they would not have a chance to sucseed. These rally guy's might think this is like cheating by being able to use GPS and having the whole course marked, compaired to what there used to getting. This is just my thought and no matter what happends I think its great that VW is doing this and it should be exciting to see these cars that we have only seen on TV race by in person.
As stated, this course is going to be the best course Baja can offer them; lots of fast roads and tight technical sections that they will have little trouble with. Mark Miller has all the experience and skill necessary - they could surprise us. Baja could also take its toll, but they will both finish. Nerffing will be an issue on both ends of the VW minivans. Seeing them off the Ojos jumps could be priceless.
