I'll bet you a dollar that it won't happen in 08 either. Maybe some other type of ID but not passports.

all you gotta do, is when you get up to the US Customs Officer, with your best impersonation of a desperado say " Passports, what passports? I ain't gotta show you no stinkin passports!"

If you were to get injured, and have to be flown back to the states for medical treatment, you better have your passport, or they are going to have to drive you across the border. All persons returning by air must have a passport to reenter the USA. By ground, no passport requried at this time.

There is a longer then normal wait time to get your passport now... don't wait, the lines will only get longer as it gets closer to needing the passport to drive across the border.

I have been down to Mex 8 times this year, once all the way to Cabo. No tourist card and no passport. I know I'm living dangerously, but that what it's all about. Kidding.....

They don't check your passport to get on the plane, they check it to get off in the US. I'm pretty dang sure if you were being flown into the US by lifeflight they would let you land. Hard to iamgine them letting you die right there on the Heli pad at the hospital........

Now that I said that.....GO GET YOUR PASSPORT YOU DING-A-LINGS!!! I have mine, I'm just dumber than you and always forget it.

On a side note. When we tried to get tourist cards at the border the Mexicans in charge of that thing will no longer issue them unless you have a passport. Since we all forgot them we said the heck with it and drove on down to Cabo and back.
