Fresh Blood
A Few Notes for the 500
Went down and pre-ran from around RM 140 to 400. Something that I saw, which I'm surprised has not been addressed, occurs when you're heading out to the beach around RM300. You come into a small village and then get into a wooped wash. Now there are a couple times where you can stay on the main course or take a smaller alternate line. TAKE THESE ALTERNATE LINES. They had a back hoe out there digging up holes the entire length of the entire course. The first will be on the right, the second on the left if I remember correctly. Unless this problem gets remedied then this can cause a very serious problem. I'm not exaggerating when I say between 20-30 feet. It's ridiculous. If they're there come race day it would be very feasible that a pile up occurs. The way it was, no vehicle would be able to get itself out under it's own power...not even the 4wds...
I wish I had pictures to add credibility to my warning, but I don't...just take my word for it, and when you start to head out to the beach on the HWY1 side, stay cautious.
A general word about the course; Very tight, very technical, VERY rough. The wide unlimited vehicles will have a lot of trouble getting around, the limited vehicles will have trouble getting up steep, single track silt hills. I predict bottlenecks up the wazoo.
