Any Diesel powered racers in Baja 500
Hi guys,
I am writing my coverage of the Baja 500 for DIESEL BUILDER Magazine and was wondering if anyone other than the VWs and Loren Worthington ran a diesel powered vehicle in the race. If so please PM or respond to me and maybe I will be able to include some of your experiences in the article. I can also be reached in the office at 423.664.5105 or via email at [email protected].
Thanks,
Chris

I believe there were several Hummer Diesel H-1's entered. Marc Balaco, Terry and Eric Henn, and John Griffin. I don't recall of Donahoe had their Ford Superduty there or not.

Re: Any Diesel powered racers in Baja 500
John Griffin raced his new Ford, which I believe is an F350, not diesel. Nice win boys!
Our new KORE Ram finished second, but its a Hemi not a diesel. Loren Worthington raced his diesel powered KORE ram and DNFd, although he did take third in last year's 1000 (using biodiesel!).
I'm not sure if the Henn's H1 is diesel or not but they crossed the finish line too late to qualify for third.
I'm not sure whatever happened to Donahoes Superduty but I heard (rumor alert) that it may have burned up.

Somebody was racing Griffins Hummer, cause it was in tech, right behind the new ride.
Yes Henn's Hummer is a diesel.
Donahoe's F350 did have a slight (?) wire toasting last year, but they fixed it, I just wasn't sure if they raced the 500.

I believe it was at Parker or a recent bitd race where it rained where donahoe caught on fire. I think it was an oil line that leaked on to the headers or manifold and then caught fire. The truck was fine except for most of the engine I think. But no 500, just the class 3 fj.

Griffin's white Hummer did not race the 500. Maybe they were pulling or pushing the race truck thru tech with it, but there were only six people in our class, not too hard to keep track of 'em all.

Thanks for the reply's. I have a number for Worthington already and will contact Dominic for the number to the Henns. Hopefully more Diesels will be allowed to compete in the future!!!
Take care,
