Ivan was one of great drivers of that era.I raced agaisnt Ivan in class one, I had the upmost respect for the man in driving and prep. Not many did it better then Ivan.I can recall one Baja 1000 that went over the Summit he was broke down and I was driving to fast in that section and he almost jumped in front of my car to slow me down for a huge wash out. I met Ivan by accident last year at the Parker 250......was super nice......wish I could have seen him in his racing career - I came into the whole offroad scene just in the past couple of years, so I missed it.......

Ya, I think that was 1999. It’s a shame that know one remembers the real facts about off road racing. What most people remember is the image or the persona or façade of a racer that marketing companies can fabricate from nothing. And let me say that I dont mean this about Ivan. He is one that has earned his merit.


I guess one reason is that the average spectator sees less that 1% of a race and they miss all the really spectacular stuff that happens in know were land.

No, Enduro did not. Ragland won the 1000 and I bet Ivan won the 500.

Something that Ivan Stewart deserves more credit for (in my opinon) is the big increase in truck sales that Toyota experienced in those years.

Bottom line is that Ivan Stewart and his image have generated BILLIONS for Toyota. If I was him I would remind them of that fact every day.
