YFZ YFZ YFZ YFZ YFZ YFZ YFZ YFZ..................The YFZ 450 is the best period. the YFZs super torquey engine will take some time to egt used to. but it will do well with any thing you throw at it. Hey i am selling my 2005 YFZ 450 for $4500. do you want it?!?!?!?! i race my Modified YFZ out in the desert. the thing is the king of the desert.

OOOOh wait you are located in Nevada ooooops, unless you want to ship it i dont know how that can happen
I would say the LT-R would be the best quad for the desert if you what to keep it stock cause of its wider stance. All you would need is a set of desert tires and you're set. You would have to widen any other quad. If you are planning on putting some cash into it, then I would say an 04-05 Honda 450 would be your best quad for the desert. I like the YFZ but they just wear you out more than a Honda, the Honda has smoother power.
LT-R is a good quad, fuel injected so you would get better gas mileage. but i was invited to ride one in glen helen a few months ago, on the first jump i hit i broke the rear linkage and bent the front a-arms up putting the shock rizzies into the radiator, it was a mess. the only problem i have ever had with Honda is that all the quads i have ever owned leak and burn oil up at an alarming rate. for a hundred mile race i would need to top of the oil because it lost oil so bad.

Y F Z If you want a real performance machine, its snappy and light its a race quad from factoy just need to uncorck it (Air Filter, pipe, jetting) The shocks on the 2007 are completely adjustables so you can set them up to your likes.
Im really not a huge yamaha fan for some reason..i think the raptor 700's look nice and ive riddin banshees and those are fun as crap.
i might go test ride a few 450s tho just to get a feel of how i like them..i do like how the honda looks taller because im 6'2 185-190 pounds
also my friend rode a piped v-force 700 with twist throttle today, he told me that that mite be a good desert quad because its very easy and wouldent get u tired???
Stock for stock its a toss up between the Honda and Yamaha for the Dez. The Zooks and Kaw or ok. It just depends on your preference. Ergonomically the Honda is better but motor wise the Yamaha puts out more power but the Honda is smoother. Suspension, they are about the same in my opinion. So it just depends on what you like. My preference is the Honda.

I cant belive no one has brought up the new KTM. Right outa the box those things are setup. After buying a Honda or Yamaha and putting all the upgrades into it your $15,000 deep. The KTM comes with almost everything exept a stabilizer and bars and cost only about 9-10,000 I think. Its gotta be the best stock quad. I cant wait to get some feed back on it from someone who has ridden one.
Never was...
