Amber dust light to rear street legal?
Ok so i just put a dust light(amber) on my rear shock mounts facing the rear.
Is it street legal to run them, or is it an off road only thing?
No biggie either way. I assumed it was off road only, but then i wondered.

Re: Amber dust light to rear street legal?
Not sure on the legality of it, but I ran my old one on my truck for a few months, I don't think cops will bother you as long as you're not blinding tailgaters

all lights are legal as long as u dont turn them on when driving on the street...even a police lightbar is as long as its not on.

I think that lights over a certian watt need to have covers in place. Maybe some of the law guys on the board can confirm this.

Re: Amber dust light to rear street legal?
In California, all constantly illuminated lamps to the rear of a motor vehicle are required to be red in color.
Rear turn signals may be red or yellow. Vehicles manufactured before 1/1/79 may have yellow stop lamps.
Jordan, unfortunately section 24003 CVC makes it illegal to be "equipped" with lamps that are not required or permitted by the vehicle code.
Be wise and keep your off-road lamps covered. Don't give 'em a reason to pull you over.

Re: Amber dust light to rear street legal?
I'm pretty sure 55 watts is the limit without having to run covers on the street.

Re: Amber dust light to rear street legal?
I used to have the Hella Ralleye 4000's and I got those clear covers for them they had. I got pulled over one time and the cop tryed to give me crap for them but I said that they did have covers on them and nowhere does it say what color the cover has to be....he had to agree and let me go....it was great.
