PCI Hi Def GPS for Tecate Score Baja 1000

I just got back from a week long expedition of the Tecate Score Baja 1000 and boy is this a tough one! Jet Blue stopped every 5 miles to pound mile markers in and we had a great time marking all 1296 miles of course! Technical, fast, majestic, and a few new sections I have never run before. Baja has got dumped on down South and everything is growing, watch out for cattle as they are everywhere! My prediction is 24 hours for the overall and those of you trying to do it alone better plan on taking a nap because you are crazy! The PCI Hi Def GPS download will be available this Tuesday the 9th. There are many dangers on this years Baja 1000 adventure, but there are several race ending spots with Triple Skull and Crossbones. Be careful and race safe! Even more reason to visit the PCI trailer and get the download...

Due to liability reasons, Score is no longer putting down arrows on their race course. Too many are ripped up by fans, locals and the course will change a lot over the next few weeks with prerunning. Score doesnt want someone to find a spot and end their race and say “Oh, they didn’t mark this, shame on them.” So they are just not marking it at all. They don’t want racers depending on the down markers and not watching their speeds or driving outside their visibility.

No more down arrows? Are there course markers at all? (besides the MM mentioned)Should make GPS manditory.

The course is marked well and in my opinion GPS should be mandatory, but do to the fact that markers disapear and SCORE wanting everyone to be cautious they feel it is more prudent and safe to drive what you can see. I had a conversation with Sal and I am sending him a list of several spots that could potentialy take you out of the race and he will pass these spots on in a drivers briefing. Good luck and be safe!
