    GPS question

    im currently looking to buy a GlobalMap 4800M
    at a very good price, can anyone tell me if this
    is the correct type of GPS to buy, on our 10 car
    it is the 4800baja, so not sure what this "M" version
    comes with, or what it lacks compared to the baja
    version. thanks

    Re: GPS question

    I know that the baja version has internally "reinforced" parts to withstand the bumps and stuff.

    Re: GPS question

    I believe swift is correct. The "Baja" version is something they started doing after getting feedback from PCI. Feature wise I don't believe there is any difference.

    I think PCI will still modify a non-baja model to get you the modifications to make it more shock resistant.

    M = Monochrome
    C= Color

    GM540c
    GM480c
    GMBajaM
    GM4800M

    Unless you're getting the thing for less than half price, color is well worth the $500. Making trails different colors and the visibility of the screen is incredible. Ask anyone who has had a monochrome (black and white) unit and upgraded to a color. It's night and day difference.

    The 4800m is not race modified or "Baja'd" all the internals haven't been secured down to the board as well as the 480c, 540c or the bigger units PCI does.

    Re: GPS question

    If you are ok with the black and white, the software is the same, so you can do everything on it you can do on a 480c Baja. It just isn't race prepped and it's black and white.

    Re: GPS question

    I have the black and white version of the 7200 in my van and even with that large screen it can become hard to tell my trails and roads apart.

    I wouldn't want to race with a black and white.

    Let me guess, your buying it off of ebay. It'll be cheap until the last thirty seconds.
