Dakar 2008 European Stages

Hi.

Recent (unoficial) news, have spred to the public that the 1st stage will be disputed in the "Ribatejo" region, a few Kilometers to the Northeast of Lisbon. The track, as they say, will be again disputed in kind of soft sand, and if it rains there, in some parts sand easaly turns in to mud.
Until now we don't know the exact location, but is expected to be somewhere in the region from Benavente to Coruche.
About the second stage we don't have information at this moment, but is expected to be disputed in the montain near Portimão.

Was the Monster t-4 running?

Hi.

I think this stage will be disputed also by the trucks, so the the monster T-4 Will be one race.

We the last 2 years the 1st stage was disputed by trucks, so i thinks ASO and Lagos will also make the trucks run in the first day.

Sorry, i didn't understand the question.

In the portuguese offroad races we don't have trucks racing (regrettably because we love to see the bigboys racing). So, even with this baja included in FIA schedule trucks aren't aliowed to race.

But i hope to see the Monster T-4 burning diesel in January

Again unofficial news update
Aparently the first stage of the Dakar 2008 will be disputed in a militar camp near Lisbon. The "Campo de Tiro de Alcochete" is where Portuguese F-16 pratice air-ground shooting, and this is where the first kilometeres will be disputed. The special stage will have 60kms length in one are of pine trees and corck trees. This area have some sand and mud. The roads inside the camp are very wide, so probably we will have the race disputed at high speed.

The second stage will be disputed in the montains near Portimão, in the same roads of last year.

Thanks for the portugesian rumors. BTW: Next week, at November, 21st will be the official presentation of the 2008 course in Paris. Of course not the exact trip, but surely some more official information.
