Crazy just plain crazy....Hopefully something can be done about this kind of crap...maybe Sal needs to step up the Mexican goverment with the help from the mayor of Ensenada.....this stuff keeps getting worse and worse....Does anyone know if Sal been told about this stuff happening???

I spoke with Chris and his wife yesterday. Needless to say they were devistated by what had happened to them. Not only was this a race for Chris and his son to chase at, it was also a family vacation in Cabo. All I can say is I am glad everything is ok and they did not get hurt. Aside from being taken at gunpoint and threatened with their lives, Chris and his family were robbed of everything they had on them, his truck stolen, wedding rings, Id's, passports, house keys, cell phones, you get the point. This sort of thing has been happening more and more. It has become unsafe to race in baja. We were on the fence about our race plans for next year, this has made it very easy to decide. No more mexico, it's just not worth it. It is sad to hear of this happeneng to anyone. I am glad to hear everyone in the Hall family is ok.

mAN I keep on reading this forums and I honestly feel sad , angry and I know the truth and it makes me sick to know what this **** has come to. I am an American Born and Raised , dad in Vietnam ,Gramps in WW2 and family in Irak ,but what hurts me the most is that ia m also a mexican american with family in both countrys specially BAJA ,My Grandmother was born In baja sur and my mom ,I love baja with all my Heart ,its part of my blood and I am fed up with this **** I have had friends killed in baja for no reson just because they couldent pay the ransom. All I can say is if you dont have to come dont do it , but if you love it just like I do and my family. Always have this in your head do every thing in your power to stay alive ,because you have family waiting for you ,but if there is no other way other than dead than always go down fighting I much rather die on my feet ****ing one of this guys up even if its with my hands than die kneeling down with my tail between my legs.


I am sorry for the profanity but its all I can say about this people.

Its not the God fearing law obiding citizens that these posts are pointing fingers at. We are with you. Most of us love Mexico/Baja and saddened, extremely saddened by these reports. Now, it has happened to a well known member of a team. People have to decide if this is worth it or not. Im glad we made it back from all 3 races this year without issues.

all I can say is good luck with that. I have had family in tj all my life and every year it gets even worse. People complain and the local media covers the deaths and violent crimes every day , it has happend to every one in tj and right in plain day light , the corupt police is in it and its not local government its federal , the cops on the Baja highway are all Federal and untachable by local police and state police . the ones who terrorised the Hall family are a group by the name of the Black Comandos ,they are trained spacial forces killers hired by goverment drug king pins to settle there dirty work against the mexican military ,but when not out following orders they spend there time kidnaping local midel class citezens of tj for ransom. It has only been in the las 2 -3 years that this has gotten worse ,before this type of comando groups that put themselfs against the military only existed in mainland mexico ,but ever since the fall of the bigest drug cartel in the west coast ,all the other cartels from mainland mexico have been comming in to see who gains power over the southwestrn border of tj , thats y they have brought in this comandos to do all the dirty work against any governmet or military opposition to them . this comando groups are posible because of the coroption in the federal government , many political parties are alied with difrent drug cartels . you are seeing this drastic change to violance and masive coroption the inthe local government of baja because of two things the fall of the old drug cartel and the fall of the PRI political party in this past 6 years things have been changing up to this point ,before all or most of baja was controled by only one political party and tijuanas goverment had direct influence over ensenada and rosarito and La paz was to far and seperated by 800 miles of desolet highway. now with this new change of governments in the area ,tijuana , ensenada and now the huge small city of rsarito are bringing in political people from mainland mexico with corupt views and difrentopposing affileits to cartel groups . Its becoming a meltting pot for all of mexicos most corupt politicians and drug lords all mixed in with the instopable amount of people coming to the border city from mainland mexico , southamerica , china and the midle east and no i am not lying when I saw china and middle east ,the local media has reported this in all the mexican channels and I am surprised that the american media neer reports this masive finds of chines people and arabs. And when I say good luck about Baja govrnment changing ther act its because baja is now being derectly controled by mainland mexico and before 2000 it dident have that direct afect it has now ,so they will not care about the BAJA 1000 trust me no one in mainland mexico cares about the baja 1000 almost no one has heard about it 3/4 of people in mainland mexico dont make money to buy themselfs a disent pair of shows or go to a movie ,the small fraction of people in mexico that go to the baja 1000 are only from tijuana , ensenada and southern baja and are middle class the rest of the country dosent even know it exist.

THIS THREAD IS VERY UPSETTING. I LIKE MOST OF US HERE ON RDC LOVE AND ENJOY BAJA. NOT JUST RACING.MY MOTHER LIVES IN BAJA MAR AND I OWN A HOME IN SAN FELIPE. I HAVE INVESTED TIME AND MONEY IN BAJA A WILL STILL BE GOING DOWN, BUT WITH A MUCH DIFF OUTLOOK.

The people doing these things are highly trained (sometime even trained by our goverment) they have no regard for human life. these acts of violence have been happaning all over Latin America for years, we were just lucky that there was no intrest in baja until recently. Having lived in Latin American only makes appreciate what we have here in the USA. I will even be more cautious in my travels. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT IF YOU FIND YOURSELF BEGING PULLED OVER THERE IS NO TRUCK, RACE CAR OR TRAILER WORTH YOUR OR YOUR FAMILYS LIFE. PLEASE DONT KID YOURSELF THESE PEOPLE WILL KILL YOU.and having a gun will not solve your problems.

********DO NOT TRAVEL AT NIGHT (IF YOU DO, DO SO IN LARGE GROUPS)
********TRAVEL IN NUMBERS (SAL just might have to start caravans from the border and have compounds in ensenada. maybe score can start offering caravans for prerunning )
********NEVER STOP ON THE FREEWAY FOR A BROKEN DOWN CAR UNLESS YOU KNOW THESE PEOPLE (i know it sounds bad but that is one of the oldest tricks used to get you off gaurd and rob you and your truck
********STAY AWARE AT ALL TIMES.
********ALWAYS CHANGE YOUR ROUTINE (if your staying at a camp ground for prerunning dont leave every day at 700 am mix it up and come back early. never use the same routes (leave on diffrent streets and try diff gas stations) it sounds paranoid
but it works

Thank god no one was physicaly but those poor people are scarred for life big props to them for keeping their wits while this was going on and getting through it they are in my prayers

someone posted about seeing the trailer in an impound/wrecking yard near TJ. The pickup is pobably hauling illegals or drugs across the border as we speak.

They probably thought they could kidnap a Mcmillan for ransom because of the name on the trailer. Leaving the Bling at home and no more team names on trailers would help keep people from being targeted. Not likely that the Mex govt. can do anything about this even if they wanted to, so we need to be proactive about ways to make it safer, that is if we want to go back. I sure do!

Praise God for keeping the Hall's safe and Godspeed to those that were lost.
