Not sure about local for you but if I didn't have any connections on equipment I think I would look at Crutchfield or something of that nature, unless you need installation as well.

crutchfield always seems to charge damn near twice what a lot of other places do. a good place to find cheaper stuff (and more selection as well) is MillionBuy.com
I went with Crutchfield and got two Sony 12" P5 subs (black cone)for 149.99 with free shipping. Not sure if the sale is still going on or not. Or Best Buy is always there.

I've been really lucky on Ebay. You just have to know what your looking for first and pay with paypal. I used to work for a place called "Ultimate electronics" and got stuff at cost. You can find close to the same prices on Ebay if you do your homework.
We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold.
