I am looking at running an ls-2 built by Greg @ Total Perfomance(appx. 585 hp) behind and Albins 5speed. I have been away from the sport for acouple of years, but it's starting to sounds like a lot of guys are putting on an LS bellhousing and running a GM performance clutch. Also many are running a torque converter.
My question is, on a 3500lb prerunner, is the converter really necessary if you aren't normally trashing the tranny? I have heard you lose about 40hp. And it's more expensive to build out. How much more would be another question. Thanks.
