Baja 1000 Thank you to Pflueger Racing
This may be a bit belated but I’ve been busy playing catch up since coming back from the Baja 1000.
The Pflueger Race team is a class act that is always willing to lend a hand and I wanted to thank them publicly. Their team jumped in to lend a hand to our car during the Baja 1000, and I doubt we would have finished the race without them. Jim Mihal and I were in Jimmie Jeffries' # 127 car for the first 470 miles of the Baja Mil. At San Telmo Rd, my wife and one other team mate were there in my pickup just to do a visual, swap a spare tire if we needed it, and relay communications to the rest of our team at Santo Domingo. Being a longtime district 37 racer herself, and having been unable to reach us on the radio, she knew that things can go wrong in racing and having extra support is always a good thing. She boldly asked the Pflueger crew if they could help pit our race car, and they said they would do whatever they could to help. When we reached San Telmo road we were surprised to be waved into the Pflueger pit. They swarmed the car like a professional Nascar crew. We had just taco’d a wheel so we needed a new spare, and while changing that out the Pflueger team noticed we had a torn CV boot and a very worn serpentine belt. Steve Leslie of the Monster crew jumped in to pull the axle, replace the outer CV boot and re-grease both outer CV’s…they were dry. The rest of the crew swapped out our serpentine belt, replaced the rock guards on our lights that were covered in mud, and checked out the rest of the car while my wife made sure we had food, water and clean visors. The Pflueger crew knocked out the repairs in half the time that we expected. We were amazed and grateful that these guys were willing to jump in and help us to this degree. Once again, the Pflueger team shows what a class act they are.
Thank you San Telmo pit crew, Steve Leslie, John Hoffman, Alan Pflueger and all the other great people at Pflueger Racing for the great team work.
