Seatbelt Harness Mounting
When mounting a 5 point harness should the belts come out of the seat and be mounted straight down? So as to prevent folds in the belt? Trying to figure the correct/safest way.
Thanks

Re: Seatbelt Harness Mounting
You should mount them in accordance with the directions they came with and sanctioning body rules. For the most part that means down and back for the lap belt and not just down.

Re: Seatbelt Harness Mounting
yea thats the diagram i had. I mounted them back at a 45 degree angle but I was told there wasnt supposed to be any folds in the belt. So i Figured out the that diagram is maybe saying 45 to 60 degrees outward? I could be wrong idk.

Re: Seatbelt Harness Mounting
There should never be any folds in a seat belt whatsoever. If you have any question about your mounting even after you've done it like the instructions say, you need to get a professional opinion. Seats and seat belts are nothing to mess around with, you must do it right. When everything goes bad, this is what will save your life! Don't just get the opinions of your buddies and take a poll. Consult a sand car builder, fab shop, race prep shop with credentials. You should be able to find 3 dozen of them within spitting distance in Riverside. If you need a referal, pm me and I'll give you half a dozen.
