They are a good concept. If you break a piece, all you have to do is replace that one piece and not the whole wheel. The cost is out of my reach or else I would probably get some for my self.

i dont think beadlocks are completely necessary. i have a pair of OMF rims with a simulated beadlock and it works great... with the addition of tire balls i have a almost invincible tire

Hipers are great for desert, I use them and you can find a guy on ebay that sells them very reasonably. Tire balls are nearly $200 per wheel, but at my level, not worth it. To some, yes, me, nope.

I use them for desert and have had no issues. I havent weighed them, but they feel lighter than the OMF beadlocks.
