Garner Cutlass
In the book 1000 Miles To Glory it tells of Oldsmoblie Cutlass' built by the late Vic Hickey and raced by Jim Garner before the Banshee was built. I found some info on the Banshee but none on these Cutlass'. Does anyone have info on these?, pics, specs, etc?
Does anybody still race cars like these off road based on production autos?

Go to class3racing.com and PM user Baja 1000 (sorry, don't know his rdc username). He's got a couple of the old Vic Hickey cars and knows alot about the history.

And he's bringing several of them to the Mint in March. Should be cool.

Re: Garner Cutlass
What little I know…a few years ago I first saw the Cutlass while riding down main drive of Solvang, Ca, while riding block wheelies on my Webco. Thought it was strange that some high-school friends of my sister were driving this lifted Olds with open exhausts down main street. Like a ring to a pinion, us BMX’ers were drawn to the cool sounds that thing was a makin’. Imagine right through the middle of town, and no cops in site. Tourists were scrambling, but they did think it was cool because it was a “car”. The Cutlass, with James Garner at the wheel, also had Slick Gardner and Jack Mendenhall as drivers. So who was in the car that day? None other than Jack’s son and RaceDez’ Clogking himself!
Hey Clogking, u got some shots?

Re: Garner Cutlass
The answer to whether or not they still race production cars anymore is yes. Good ole Crandon, WI. They used to race in SCORE Class 6, Crandon calls them "Classix".
