Yeah thats a cool trip, glad you guys had a blast pioneer town is a really fun place. it would have been a shame to loose all of it to the fires. the back side of big bear has some fun stuff to go play in, there are some cool old gold mines and abandond old shacks up there. we have a house in landers and weve done alot of exploring up there, glad someone else is too great post.

That trip looks like a blast especially in the winter time. I too would love a map of this if you got it.

Heres a map of the area. Sorry about the clarity, my map book got soaked in the car.

From Apple Valley Hwy 3N14 to Fawnskin (if its open)(we had to detour around via 2N09)

From Fawnskin you can take one of a few routes depending on time and weather. The fun route is back down 2N09 to 3N16 to 3N09 down hwy 18 around Baldwin Lake to 2N02 to Burns Canyon Rd (Rimrock) make right at hwy, about 3 miles to Pioneertown.

or from Fawnskin take hwy 18 to 3N09 to 3N16 to hwy 18 again, left to 3N03 to 2N02 to Burns Canyon Rd.

We also did check out one of the Mines, warning sign about gas vapors, danger and unstable ladders.... Nice stopping points.
