It was the Independents that were the cross-over you mentioned... McCain will get alot of the I. but not in Cal. Primary, its closed to all but the R party!

Politics & Religion should not mix at all. It scares me when people get so passionate and mix both.

Its as scary as hearing an Ayatollah. Regardless of our personal belief system, there should be a clear separation of church and state.

The founders of the country understood how important was never to mix both....

Now on a more controversial issue, I always thought the Bible was actually the best anti-religion book ever written. People who point at the bible to guide you have actually never read it or understood it.

It justifies Genocide, Slavery, Incest, Murder among many other things....It was actually the Bible what put me away from religion from my Christian uprising and beliefs.

well, it looks like you either havent read it or you dont understand it. If you actually READ it and not jsut SAY you did, you will see that it actually does NOT justify "Genocide, Slavery, Incest, Murder among many other things." It actually says quite the opposite. Maybe you can tell me where it "justifies" ANY of that?

I suggest that the next time you make a post about something like this, and try to quote something or talk about something, that you know what you are talking about first. It helps you not look like such an idiot.

Re: Who did you vote for/who will you vote in the primary???

I was never really into politics one bit, I just kind of went with the flow but I have to thank Hillary Clinton, becuase if it wasn't for her I wouldn't have registered to vote for the first time in my 10 years of being a U.S. Citizen so I can vote AGAINST her.

Now my issue is picking who to vote for. I'd like to thank everyone that has contributed to this thread, good or bad, it's helping me alot with my decision. Besides watching it on TV, reading stuff on my own, it's good to see the debates and discussions in this thread to hear 2 or 3 sides to every candidate.

I also read today that Clinton got the majority votes of hispanics in California, as a Mexican that scares me, this wont be too popular with my "own" people, but we can barely pick a good candidate to run our own country, what makes us think we can pick one to run this country? Dont get me wrong, I LOVE Mexico with a passion, but the fact of the matter is I would never choose to live there (unless I had a house in El Dorado near San Felipe and not worry about $$$ )

    Nick,

Please, let’s carry this conversation as adults. Ad hominem insults do not take us anywhere.
Now I will answer your question to the best of my abilities since I am neither a philosopher nor a theologian…..just an engineer who shares with you the passion for racing. (Mind me, but I think we can carry this conversation in another forum or privately since not everybody wants to read our rants)

In any rate, Genocide is justified in the following verses :

    Leviticus, Chapter 26, verses 7-9
You will chase your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you. Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you. For I will look on you favorably and make you fruitful, multiply you and confirm My covenant with you. You shall eat the old harvest, and clear out the old because of the new.

There are many other more belligerent verses , specially when Yahweh (God) urges the children of Israel to wipe out the Canaanites.

    Deuteronomy 20, Verse 16-18:
16 However, in the cities of the nations the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes.
17 Completely destroy [a] them—the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—as the LORD your God has commanded you. 18 Otherwise, they will teach you to follow all the detestable things they do in worshiping their gods, and you will sin against the LORD your God.

This looks exactly like a jihad call to me. People tend to forget that the Abrahamic Religions (Judaism, Islam and Christianity) urge their followers to spread the word through the use of the sword.

    Slavery:

    Leviticus 25:44-46
However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way.

    Exodus 21:2-6
If you buy a Hebrew slave, he is to serve for only six years. Set him free in the seventh year, and he will owe you nothing for his freedom. If he was single when he became your slave and then married afterward, only he will go free in the seventh year. But if he was married before he became a slave, then his wife will be freed with him. If his master gave him a wife while he was a slave, and they had sons or daughters, then the man will be free in the seventh year, but his wife and children will still belong to his master. But the slave may plainly declare, 'I love my master, my wife, and my children. I would rather not go free.' If he does this, his master must present him before God. Then his master must take him to the door and publicly pierce his ear with an awl. After that, the slave will belong to his master forever.

    Exodus 21:20-21 (my personal favorite!!!!!!)
When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property.

    Incest:
Do you remember the story of Lot from Sodom and Gomorrah? He seduces his 2 daughters, and he is considered by God the only good guy on the block…
That was incest, also in the Book of Judges there is a similar story….

Anyway, I am not trying to preach to anyone, I am just putting in quotes what Desert Edge wanted quoted.

Politics & religion should not mix, because then we would have to impose on people a way of life that not everyone shares. (That is exactly what radical Muslims are trying to impose on the rest of the world)

If we were to mix them, Wouldn’t it be then easier to wipe the middle east with an atom bomb, justifying this action the above mentioned Bible verses?

Some would agree....but can’t you imagine how any innocent people live there? So many children that would suffer a terrible and horrifying death.
Look, I respect your right to follow the religion of your choice, just don’t legislate with it.

My wife is a devout Catholic and I am an Agnostic, My children will always have a choice of their own when it come to picking what they want. Why should they inherit their mother’s religion or their father’s lack of it? And trust me, we have high moral standards in our house.

With all that said, I respect your point of view, but I disagree the Bible is a good moral compass for our children

That is why I consider the Bible the best book against Christianity ever made, if we only stop and read it, we would be done with all our differences….Or do you agree with all the verses I quoted here?

Smart... Welcome to exercise a privilege we have and half of the citizens take for granted, along with many other things in their lives!
