Right after the Califonia NASCAR race Robby Gordon and his Team Dakar USA spent some time in the Southern Californian sand dunes testing both the Monster Energy/Toyo Tires and Ronn Bailey's Vanguard Hummers. The test was in preparation for the April 19th-26th Dakar Series Central Europe Rally which is a make up event for the canceled 2008 Dakar Rally - which was postponed due to terrorist threats from the Al Queda faction in Mauritania.

That would be me, I actually enjoy getting some sleep...
I noticed at the end he said "If Ronn shows up to race this car he will be very impressed" or something of that sorts. Like I posted in the other thread, I don't think Ronn is going to be showing up to race the 2nd Hummer, at least that's what he told me in San Luis.

Will be interesting to see who does race it then...not much time left to get someone on board that you can place that much faith in...Though this would seem to indicate that BOTH Hummers are RG's and under his control (and coming out of his pocket) and not just the Monster one...if the 2nd Hummer was under Ronn's control you would think it would have been left in Europe at his shop since he (I believe Bajafox reported this earlier) has said he will run the Trans-Oriental rally or some such later in the year....

I spoke to Ron before the start of the new CODE race this passed weekend, real cool guy and straight forward. Got to talk about what happened before DAKAR, his future with RG and other stuff. He's planning to do the Transoriental (sp?) in his own vehicle and he told me he wasn't doing business with RG anymore.
He said a few things of RG that would make Chase2 his biggest fan...
But he did say this "he's a hell of a driver"
He also told me his Hummer was never even tested before DAKAR and not even finished. Dont know if that's public info or not
Anyway, I'm now a fan of Ron Bailley and wish him the best in all his future racing endevours (sp?)

Things really don't sound very good between Robby & Ronn. "Told him where and when to be here and he didn't show up"

Yeah, ouch. Well If Ronn does bail out as has been stated, There are going to be alot of A-list people lining up to get the chance to drive that second car.
