Some inspection problems before qualifying: The Cup cars of #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr., #48-Jimmie Johnson and #17-Matt Kenseth were forced to go through the inspection line twice after NASCAR officials found minor violations on their cars. NASCAR officials said the problems were not serious, but the crews of the #88 Chevy, the #48 Chevy and the #17 Ford were told to correct the problems and go back through the line. No this is great actually......Nascar is breaking precident which will only help RG in his defense. If all violations were going to be treated equally , as per Nascar, they just shot themselves in the foot by allowing that. RG can use every bit of this in court.

NASCAR has put themselves in a position were the "core fans" are going to watch and criticize thier every move. Mark my word they probably won't announce any penalties or fines (if in fact there are any) until after the 5th and RGM's arbitration is complete. It really shouldn't matter what they did. DEI fixed thier car right away last year, and rolled it right through inspection. NASCAR wants it black or white and that is just what they should get.....no exceptions. Every team that enters a race should be eligible for an appeal hearing after any infraction. And those teams should also feel confident that a third party will be unbiased to the point were suspected violations have an opportunity to be dismissed. It is NASCAR's own fault that they have been able to run a "my way or the highway" mentality with the whole appeal process. I guess the easiest alternative is to turn a blind eye and not even proceed with identifying a violation, but once they do they have opened themselves up to whatever scrutiny is out there. As far as I'm concerned come Tuesday afternoon all three of them should be docked 100 pts....fined $100k....the CS suspended for six weeks until they appeal the violations. Let's keep it fair. Push Jr out in a tent till he earns his way back in the garage.
