I thought Jello Barfia said it best, "We need that oil!"

Angry Re: Friggin oil at 117.00!

I'd rather see new, more efficient refineries be built in Southern California, that's a big factor. Fuel is taxed so heavily, oil profits a WAY too high and those F*****s sitting on the oil are laughing all the way to the bank. This is CRIMINAL!!!

    Re: Friggin oil at 117.00!

The fat assholes who are making all the money are the ones in the middle east who pull the oil out of the ground...some of the refineries are actually losing money right now...I personally have stopped using gas stations that import their oil:

These companies import Middle Eastern oil:

    Shell........................... 205,742,000 barrels

    Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels

    Exxon /Mobil.. ............. 130,082,000 barrels

    Marathon/Speedway... 117,740,000 barrels

    Amoco............................62,231,000 barrels

And will stick with domestically supported companies:

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

    Sunoco..................0 barrels

    Conoco..................0 barrels

    Sinclair.................0 barrels

    B P/Phillips............0 barrels

    Hess.......................0 barrels

    ARC0....................0 barrels

Marc, we are doing this to ourselves.

The prime motivators to the high price is the very weak dollar, rampant commodities speculation and lack of production on our own continent. Remember the votes against ANWR.

What a ****ing mistake that was.

Thanks for the 411 on that. I will stick to my local Sinclair dealers.

I've been loyal 76 user since I started driving. Nice to see them (conoco) on the zero import list.

Exxon crashed the Valdez and took way to long cleaning it up, so I don't buy their gas.

Arco - I would not put that crap in my gardener's lawnmower!

1 of the TT teams I work with has contract pricing for race fuel - at a lower price then we pay for 87 octane!

    Re: Friggin oil at 117.00!

I've heard Costco gets their gas from BP. Also, there are a couple mistakes in the data I posted:

    Conoco owns Phillips
    BP owns Arco and Amoco

So I'm not sure if the BP companies are using imported crude oil or not.

I've been reading more about the numbers posted here, and it looks like many people would disagree with them, saying that most oil refineries use a combination of imported and domestic oils. I'll have to ask my dad who's a supervisor at a Conoco Phillips refinery.

Something else I found interesting is that we import the most of our crude oil from Canada:
