preventing rust
May seem like a rookie question but I just started on a ranger and there are many things I will not be able to powder coat. Alot of things you see in pictures look raw, granted they may not be finished so what are my options, is there a paint anyone prefers, I also read the thread about blueing the frame so thats an option there I guess just seems like it wouldn't last long.

The bluing doesn't really seem to keep the rust away anyway...I tried that.
Just rattle can it if you have to.

WD-40 is god. I live at the beach and have had a 2 seat 1600 chassis in my garage for a year and a half and no rust yet. Just spray a can and wipe it down. Works for me.
And WD-40 is named because: Water Displacement attempt #40. So there's a random fact for ya.

Re: preventing rust
I thought I have seen something on one of those goofy Sunday morning car shows that had some kind of a kit that came with these sticky pads with 2 electrical wires coming from it (1 power, 1 ground) that you place a couple of them on your car and it helps stop the rust. This is more for the salt winter roads but, it may work on a preruner also. i think it was on 2 guy garage or 6 guy garage?

Re: preventing rust
We use Gibbs Penetrant with good results. You really give the frame or parts a good wetting and let sit for a few days then blot off the excess. This works great on magnesium also. You can do a search on the net on where to buy it.
