Hello, I am Dixon

Hi - I'm Dixon from Louisiana and I want to go desert racing, with running (and finishing, hell maybe even winning) the 1000 as an eventual goal. My interest began when I got a copy of _The Baja Run: Racing Fury_ by Don Smith sometime in the late '70s when I was just a kid. I remember thinking, "I wanna do that someday". I must admit that college, marriage, kids and career pushed lots of things aside including going to Baja, but I happened across the Popular Mechanics article on the BFG pit a couple of years ago, then Two Roads to Baja last year, then Dust to Glory and now I just can't get it out of my head.

I'd like to make it to the 1000 this year, at least as a spectator, or maybe even help in a pit. I'm a decent bike and vehicle mechanic, can cook, weld, have a strong back, and don't mind getting dirty, hot, cold, wet or tired.
