    safety gear...

I am just getting into the world of offroad racing. What personal safety gear is everone using? Helmet based on fit & comfort, but when it comes to head & neck restraints what are you guys using? I plan on running class 5. Are most of the classes using the same stuff? Are people using the DCell systems? When is comes to driving suits, gloves etc. Everything we use has to have a snell rating based on class/speed. Is it the same offroad?

    thanks!

I use a Simpson Helmet........I think it is the most comfortable......I also wear a Simpson custom driving suit.......again.....best quality and most comfortable.

D-Cel's or some kind of neck restraint is absolutely necessary...........no matter what the class. Its not the speed that kills you, but the stop...........You can go from 40 to 0 in 1 sec in a trophy truck or a 11 car.............I use a D-Cel and I love it.......dont even feel that its there after 5 min in the car, and my neck does not hurt anymore after a race.

No matter what you do, get some kind of head/neck restraint............it is the best money you can spend.

I suggest calling Doug or Harold at Parker Pumper..........951-360-5906 and asking them to set you up.

Tell em' Shrek sent you...........and you will get a good laugh, and a couple good stories.

Just remember. You can never be to safe. Safety equipment is worth it's weight in gold and you have come across a wealth of knowledge on this site. I use a Shoei myself w/ a pyrotec suit. But I have only had to use the helmet so far. Very comfortable.

    Re: safety gear...

We bought our D-Cels from Butch's Speed Shop and had them fitted at contingency. They are more difficult to fit up than you would think so I would definately have someone like Butch's or Parker Pumper do the fitting for you.

Also, we got our fire suits from DJ Safety Supply. Very nice guys to deal with and the product fits very well.

Google is your friend. Just do a search on Simpson, Butch's Speed Shop, Parker Pumper...etc. And you will find loads of info.
