    Battery Tray and Hold Down

I just wanted to share this. Its nothing fancy in comparison tot he majority of the work here. But its not often I get to build things they way I want to on the type of trucks I build.

I haven't had my dimple dies for long, but I really enjoy them. I was impressed that I can stand on this box without it flexing, and its only made from 16 gauge.

Nice battery box. Why is it attached to the frame on just one side instead of two? Just curious, is there a technical reason?

Nice job, what make of battery did you build it for?

Sorry I did not get back to this, my computer has been down for a while.

Do you mean I should have butted it up next to the stock framerail and welded it there as well? I did not do this because I don't believe it needs that level of strength to hold the bettery, since it will be a street driven vehicle. The vehicle is more for show, and I wanted to keep it aesthetically pleasing, which meant centering the battery on that side of the crossmember.

The truck currently has a standard sized plain jane auto store type battery, but I built the base large enough to hold an Optima.

Here it is with the battery installed.

You should show off your other work on here too.... that ended up being one nice Datsun... makes me want to build the one in my yard.

You normally do any offroad fab in your shop?

I don't think most of the work I do really fits in here. Maybe if people want to see it, but I try to keep on topic per board.

I occasionally do offroad work, but not the kind you get to see on this site. I usually just get lift kits, or SAS kits for Toyotas, so nothing custom or exciting really.
