what did they talk about 97ds? anything interesting? like dezert racing? prolly not cause speed does'nt show much of it. you know, i'd rather see ole' robby kiss off nascar, and the open wheel stuff and dedicate the rest of his career racin' score, full time corr, and endurance rally events. just the international exposure and big time paydays available for dakar winners would keep him in the chips. world rally guys make the really large dollars don't they? he outta go for that too. i don't think any american drivers have ever been involved in world rally to any large degree have they? i just think he's pissin in the wind with structured roundy-round racing and truth be told, he's not as good at it as some of the other guys that have cut their teeth on that kind of stuff. his real talents are for off road events where he has few peers. i'd rather see him beat sainz, sousa, de villiers, and alphand than couzin carl, kyle , juan pablo, and somebody named david reagan. no offense david. just my take on it.

I understand what you are saying, but to say that RG is not that good in Cup talent wise is not accurate. When in competetive equipment, RG is every bit as good as any of them, it has so been proven. Unfotrunately, in Nascar, more so then in any other form of racing, driver talent is not less important, but if you do not have a properly set up car, all of the talent in the world will not get you a top 20 in Nascar. That is an unfortunate fact. Where as in off road racing, even the IRL/Open Wheel series, driver talent alone is worth some finishing positions

Truth be told, RG's failures in Cup are of his own making, he made ownership a priority over his driving and winning a championship. If he was with a competetive team, he would be in the chase. Hell, he finished 16th and was as high as 9th in the points just 5 years ago when RCR was down and a second tier team at best.

sure rgfan. but part of the overall nascar picture regarding success has to include the decisions you have to make on the track and i 'm not sure robby has made the right choices alot of times. his car control is superb. his judgement ? not so much. i'm not baggin' on him. i'd just like to see the guy do what he's REALLY good at full time. and that's off highway racing. i'm just a little tired of tuning in to nascar races and seeing the guy solidly locked in in 30th , two or three laps down with the only shot at finishing well is if part of the field crashes and, due to his superb car control he manages to salvage a top 20. and we call that a great finish for a single car effort. in reality, it sucks and at this point, it's very nearly predictable. you can admire the guy for being head strong and detemined, but that does'nt necessarily equate to top five finishes week in and week out. again, just an opinion from a casual observer. gas on.

Nope, never made it to 8th. Jr finished 9th behind Robby but he had led a lap so he had 143 points vs Robby's 142. Only lasted for a few days too...

Looks like 9th is as high as Robby can go.
