    dash bracing

This is for a 2 seat 12: After looking at dozens 2 seat projects (cl16, 12 & 5), no one seems to have any bracing from the dash midpoint down to the floor. From lower A pillar to lower A and from dash to the floor is the largest opening on the car. Why don't builders (in this class) have bracing in this opening? Should I add bracing here?

I'm thinking of adding at least the green tube to help transfer load to the floor if hit at midpoint on roof...

Let me know what you think.

    Thanks,
    G.

    Re: dash bracing

I think it's probably because it doesn't really offer much in the way of strength in a roll over because you can not properly install diagonal bracing along with the vertical brace you have drawn in. In a roll over if the top front cross tube takes a hard enough hit to bend down it will bend the dash tube down and the floor if you install the brace you have drawn in. The only way to prevent the floor and dash tube from being effected is to run two diagonal tubes from the center of the dash tube down to the outside lower frame rail on each side. But, this is not practical because then you have no where for your legs. On these types of cars (Buggies) I think that the front brace is more to keep objects from entering the cockpit more then anything else. Just my thoughts.

By "front" brace, do you mean the center pillar that divides the front window?
