    Gas pedal options

A lot of corr racers use the I-dont-know what you call it pedal that you can lift up with your toe. But a lot of offroad racers still use the foot shaped boat pedal. What do you think, and where do you get it?

is the one i'm gonna use and i'll just make a little foot pad, but it has the toe kick in case the throttle return spring breaks.

Ok, its called a toe-kick. But then there is nothing holding your heal in place on the floor. It seems to me that the boat pedal style will hold your foot in place better, so what is the advantage of the open toe-kick style?

I have allways used a CNC s.tyle throttle pedal with a good return spring no reason to use a toe return pedal IMO

Ever drive a flat-bottom? Rough as any 4 wheels off-road. "Ankle pivot" boat throttles pivot under the front of the heel instead of the back. They provide full up and down throttle control and work fine while bracing yourself in panic situations. Only problem is they are a little bit raised and a bit bulky, so they don't fit all applications.

Ankle pivot pedals are more natural feeling as well-(look at where your ankle is).

    Re: Gas pedal options

I decided to go with the ankle pivot design. I happen to have some oilite flanged bearings laying about, so I designed this pedal around the bearings. It will use an industrial control cable with 10-32 swivel bearings, and the row of holes along the right edge is to find the best location for proper cable travel. Let me know if you see anything wrong with the design.

    Re: Gas pedal options

    Not bad.

Other things can come into play depending how rough the ride may get, how long it needs to last, and how much contol you really need.

    Re: Gas pedal options

A guy told me to weld a bunch of tacks on the pedal. Pull the MIG trigger and let go...over and over.
Works great, and the foot never slips off. ALSO might want to put a pedal type footrest on the left side, with tacks too.
Great for steadying around corners and in whoops.
