live in a Pretty nice condo complex on the outskirts of El Cajon/Lakeside, right next to Blossom Valley. Since the economy and work slowing down, its no surprise that crime goes up. We have had a series of thefts in our community and to take action our HOA has installed a video system. I wasnt to exited about it since it raised our dues. I thought other precautions could be done to scare off theives at a much less cost. Now with the cameras all we get is a low resolution video of some dirt bag stealing our stuff. If the camera is good enough, and with a little luck the police might, just might recognize the guy or get a license plate number. By the time they make a match, your stuff has already been hocked and sold. So...Ive taken matters into my own hands.
Someone has been trying to steal my fuel out of my transfer tank and Ive had enough! Not only did I park in view of the cameras I planted a 5 gallon gas can in the back of my truck with a special blend of gas that with seriously do damage to what ever its put into. And to top it off, I added this note to the bottom of the tank so right about when the guy dumps the gas into his car he will see the note on the bottom that reads this...

Dave, I live in the same area, and there seems to be more homeless/ transiet people lately. I live in a pretty rural area with dogs and they keep a eye on stuff, but even then when I see a sheriff I ask what can we do with the transiet population? The suggestion I got was keep the sheriff involved with activity. There is a fire station pretty close to our area if your complex is where I think? Maybe drop by and talk with those guys, since they have an in with law enforcement? The sheriffs are pretty thick on Old Highway 80 on Fridays and Sat.
