JRV so the silt beds were the major obstacle. I guess the hill climbs aren't as bad as the silt. Thanks for the input.

Re: BITD VEGAS2RENO Obstacle
Here's an update from the BITD web site:
Newest Updates as of 6/20/08 We are NOT GOING through the silt prior to the 2007 pit #4 – Scotty’s Junction. We have a new course and pit area BLM approved out which bypasses the silt.
We don’t like silt either!
Also, the exact measurements of the underpass approximately at Mile Marker 185 are 7’ High and 10’ Wide. There will be an alternative route around it, which will be controlled by Best In The Desert for the safety of all. This alternative route will be escorted by a Best In The Desert Official and will be a time delay up to 4 minutes. We have heard that someone has made a posting with an alternative route – that route is not correct.

They ran one one time way off to the east near pit #2 (don't know if it's the same one) and had a bypass for cars/trucks. Trust me on this one... Call Rod Hall and ask him about the time a red white & blue 7 truck passed him and then went through the tunnel. If it's that one, you won't fit. Oh, and it gets slightly narrower and shorter the further you go in. My crew couldn't figure out how I managed to tear the roof and top of the doors off (and the side lights) without damaging the fenders.

Ha! I'm picturing race cars lined up behind you taking turns trying to nerf you through!
I know a little German... he's sitting over there.

hahah billy, this is harry........i think i remember this incident ,and the tunnel you guys took was the MOTORCYCLE bypass! i was driving in johnnys stock mini at that point and got a little lost myself. good times! by the way, was this the same v-r where you found the bottomless silt hole 100 feet off the start? interesting way to start the race, sitting in a trailer graveyard/landfill in 115* heat in alamo(hills have eyes 4)watching cars take off and getting stuck in the first .010 mile thinking...we're gonna die out here. god damm i miss that stuff.
